The choice of the allegory of Gratitude is intended to allude to the role of generous father that the Russian patron, Nicolai Demidoff, embodies towards his sons and the Florentine people.
This work, previously kept in the Gipsoteca Bartoliniana of the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence, is a recent (2014) acquisition for the collection of the Museum of Palazzo Pretorio. Together with Charity the Educator, the work represents one of the numerous Bartolini sculptures owned by the state and housed at the Prato institution, which has sought in this way to promote the Savignano-born sculptor since the last century.
