The light tone of the two floral triumphs with carnations, tulips, peonies, hydrangeas, roses and other flowers reveals the influences of 18th century French still life, in particular the manner and style of the French painter Jean Baptiste Monnoyer, one of the most creative interpreters of the genre in the second half of the 18th century.
Subjects of this type became very fashionable especially in the 18th century, as is evident from the large number of works with this theme on display in the Martini Collection of the Palazzo Pretorio Museum. In addition to these Flowers, there are those of Franz Werner von Tamm, Ludovico Stern. Also present are Still Life with Fruit and Vegetables by Jan Van Kessel, Pietro Navarra and Carlo Mainieri.
