The elegant 18th-century tones and the stylisation of the delicate glass cruet are reminiscent of the two Flowers in a Vase attributed to Stern kept in the Galleria dell'Accademia di San Luca in Rome. Highly fashionable under Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine, they are inspired in their lucid realism by Austrian fashions.
