Still Life

Pietro Navarra XVIII sec. d.C./ inizi

This still life depicts numerous summer and late autumn fruits, whole or already opened. Figs, plums, apricots, watermelon, white and black grapes, are arranged on a surface or inside a basin with a gushing jet of water.
The two small canvases can be attributed to Pietro Navarra, a pupil of Franz Werner von Tamm.

In the composition and painting style of the two still lifes, it is possible to find references not only to the master von Tamm but also to Spadino, a Roman still life painter who was also successful in Florence and to whom the two canvases were once attributed.
