Room 4

The room is dedicated to Angela Riblet, a generous noblewoman who donated three paintings of splendid beauty to the City of Prato: one by Santi di Tito, the other two by Alessandro Allori, these altarpieces from the Spini Palace in Peretola are now preserved on the second floor in Palazzo Pretorio Museum. The paintings here displayed are her bequest to the Municipality, portraying her dearest family affections.

Angela Riblet, daughter of the French painter Fernand Riblet and of the Venetian noblewoman Alba Brunelli, lived in her Florentine family palace in Via della Scala with her husband, Count Filippo Bargagli Petrucci, whom she married in 1953. She was the nephew of Auguste Riblet and Angiolina Arrigotti, well-known Florentine antiquarians, and the sole heir of her father’s painting collection. Fernand Riblet was a painter, a passionate art coinnoisseur, and a tireless traveller.
