Room 14

In ancient times this room was designated as public audience hall.
Between 1502 and 1503 the Municipality asked Filippino Lippi to paint specifically for this room the famous Madonna with the Child between St. Stephen and St. John the Baptist, now preserved in Palazzo Pretorio Museum and also known as “Pala dell’Udienza” (Audience altarpiece). Nowadays the marriage are celebrated here by the major, and the paintings in the room recall pleasing feelings showing the theme of love together with portraits, mythology, landscapes and nature.
