The Town Hall

The Town Hall can be visited with guided tours during special occasions, usually communicated via the Museum’s newsletter and socials.

In 1858 the Galleria Comunale (Municipal Gallery) was inaugurated in the rooms which today host the mayor’s office. For that reason, the first floor of the Town Hall has been partially rearranged in 2018.

Starting from the history of the building - that unavoidably reflects the historical events of the city - the new set-up of the rooms is based on nuclei and collections, reminding of the artworks exhibited in the permanent collection in Palazzo Pretorio Museum, highlighting the uniqueness of the municipality’s artistic heritage.
In order to make the municipality’s art collection even more accessible, the new display includes paintings and sculptures formerly preserved in the museum’s storage. These artworks come back to light enriching the halls of the most important civic building: here, historical figures’ portraits and artists reveal the city’s tale, a narration whose plot and connections are sometimes unexpected.
